The Hebrides Range Taskforce (HRTF) will take its case to the new Coalition Government agreed a meeting of the group on Tuesday 1st of June.  This was the first meeting of the Taskforce since the recent General Election.

Success For Hebridean Range Task Force Campaign


The Hebrides Range Taskforce welcomes the Secretary of State for Scotland’s announcement that the MOD has rejected QinetiQ’s proposals to rationalise Command and Control functions at Hebrides Range on Benbecula.


The proposal would have led to the loss of 125 jobs and associated impacts on the local economy.

4 05 August 2009 Minister for Defence and Supply will meet the Hebrides Range Taskforce

Minister for Defence and Supply, Quentin Davies MP will meet the Hebrides Range Taskforce on 5 August on Benbecula.

The Taskforce will put a strong case for the maintenance and development of facilities at the Hebrides Range as well as explaining why current proposals will have a devastating effect on the local community as well as the fragile environment of St Kilda’s -  the UK’s only dual World Heritage Site.

5 04 August 2009 Minister urged to save range jobs

Campaigners are urging the defence minister to scrap plans to axe 125 jobs in the Hebrides.

It comes as Quentin Davies begins a two-day tour of the affected islands. The MoD has announced plans to halve the workforce at the missile range on South Uist and Benbecula and withdraw staff from its base on St Kilda. Read more...
